• 155 000 spectateurs ont assisté au triplé Audi à la finale DTM
• Mattias Ekström célèbre sa deuxième victoire d’affilée
• Audi devance BMW et Mercedes-Benz dans le championnat des constructeurs
Audi est le meilleur constructeur au DTM 2014. Avec une triple victoire à la finale à Hockenheim, la marque aux quatre anneaux a réussi à récupérer le titre à BMW dans le championnat des constructeurs devant 155 000 spectateurs (à travers le week-end).
L’équipe – autour du directeur d’Audi Motorsport, le Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, et de Dieter Gass, le chef du DTM chez Audi Sport – a réussi à passer de 21 points à 30 points lors de la finale via une performance impressionnante. Lors de la saison 2014, Audi a marqué un total de 409 points, BMW 379 et Mercedes-Benz 222. L’un des premiers à présenter ses félicitations a été le champion du monde de football, Bastian Schweinsteiger, qui a regardé la finale DTM dans les stands Audi.
La deuxième et la troisième place dans le championnat des pilotes étaient déjà acquises par Audi. Le double champion DTM, Mattias Ekström, avec l’Audi RS 5 DTM Red Bull de l’Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline a célébré sa deuxième victoire de suite et a terminé la saison comme second pilote du championnat. Le champion de l’an dernier, Mike Rockenfeller, dans l’Audi RS 5 DTM Schaeffler de l’Audi Sport Team Phoenix a décroché la deuxième place et a progressé à la troisième place au classement des pilotes. Jamie Green dans l’Audi RS 5 DTM Hoffman Group de l’Audi Sport Team Rosberg est monté sur le podium, terminant à la troisième place lors de la finale de la saison.
« Aujourd’hui, Audi a démontré son slogan « Vorsprung durch Technik » (l’avancée par la technologie) : avant le début de la course avec la démonstration de l’Audi RS 7 sans conducteur et avec un triplé à la finale DTM », a déclaré Dieter Gass. « Notre objectif de ce week-end était de remporter le championnat des constructeurs. Et à la fin cela a été clairement en faveur d’Audi – notamment grâce à une performance de la brillante équipe. Le fait que les pilotes des trois équipes Audi Sport soient montés sur le podium aujourd’hui parle de lui même. Sur ce week-end, tout le monde pouvait voir la force des Audi RS 5 DTM. 15 à 30 podiums possibles cette année sont un compte impressionnant. Félicitations aussi à Mattias (Ekström) et Mike (Rockenfeller) pour la prise de la deuxième place et de la troisième place dans le championnat des pilotes. Nous avons déjà hâte d’être en 2015, pour ainsi récupérer le numéro de la voiture 1. »
Le vainqueur de la course, Mattias Ekström, tout comme Mike Rockenfeller, a démarré la course avec des pneus durs standard et donc a eu la bonne stratégie. Les deux ont maintenu leurs positions dans le top dix, et dans la phase finale, après être passés en pneus plus souples, ils ont été en mesure de compenser une position l’un après l’autre. Favorisé par une période de sortie de la voiture de sécurité en fin de course, Ekström et Rockenfeller ont réussi à doubler sur les deux derniers tours Jamie Green, qui avait pris la tête de la course dès le départ.
« Mon Audi a de nouveau été fantastique aujourd’hui », s’exclame Mattias Ekström après sa deuxième victoire en l’espace de seulement trois semaines. « Depuis que les qualifications étaient meilleures, les courses se sont aussi bien déroulées. Ce fut une grande finale de la saison pour Audi, pour l’équipe Abt Sportsline et aussi pour moi devant une foule fantastique. Vous ne pouvez pas rêver mieux avant la pause hivernale. »
Avec Timo Scheider (Audi RS 5 DTM AUTO TEST) et Miguel Molina (Audi RS 5 DTM Audi Sport) aux places six et neuf, un total de cinq pilotes Audi a terminé dans le top dix et donc dans les points.
Nico Müller (Audi RS 5 DTM Audi Financial Services) a terminé la dernière course de sa saison de rookie à la 14ème place, après une course difficile. Adrien Tambay (Audi RS 5 DTM Playboy) et Edoardo Mortara (Audi RS 5 DTM Audi Sport) ont abandonné après des collisions, mais étaient encore classés aux positions 19 et 22.
Même avant le début de la finale DTM, Audi a fait sensation. L’Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept a fait un tour rapide sur le circuit DTM – sans conducteur.
La nouvelle Audi TT cup était sur la piste avec un pilote, présentant le nouveau championnat Audi qui débutera en 2015 dans le cadre du DTM. Le Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, membre du conseil d’administration d’Audi en charge du développement technique était à son volant.
Il a rejoint après la course le Président du Directoire, Rupert Stadler, et toute l’équipe DTM Audi afin de célébrer la victoire du constructeur au championnat.

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Chef d’Audi Motorsport): “This was a great ending of the season for Audi with an impressive performance. We proved that we’ve got a strong team. We clinched many second and third places this year but it took a long time for us to win a race – that was tough for the squad that never gave up. The title in the manufacturers’ championship is a great reward for all the work. On the whole, it was a tremendous weekend for Audi with the world premiere of the Audi Sport TT Cup on Friday, the fast lap of the driverless RS 7 and culminating in an impressive performance in the DTM finale. We’ve now got a very good base for 2015 because at the end of the season the Audi RS 5 DTM was the car to be beaten.”
Dieter Gass (Chef du DTM): “Today, Audi showed ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’: before the start of the race with the driverless RS 7 and in the DTM finale with a one-two-three victory in front of a fantastic turnout of 155,000 spectators. Our aim this weekend was to win the manufacturers’ championship. And in the end we clearly decided it in Audi’s favor – not least thanks to a brilliant team performance. That drivers from all three Audi Sport Teams mounted the podium today speaks a clear language. On this weekend everyone could see how strong the Audi RS 5 DTM is. 15 in 30 possible podium places this year are an impressive tally. Congratulations also to Mattias (Ekström) and Mike (Rockenfeller) on taking the runner-up’s spot and third place in the drivers’ championship. We’re already looking forward to 2015 when we’re aiming to recover car number 1 as well.”

“This was a superb race today. I started from position seven and finished in second place. In the end, it was about who’d be winning: Mattias (Ekström) or I. I tried to take it easy on the tires in his slipstream in order to attack later. Then the safety car was deployed and mixed things up a bit. Afterwards, I no longer had a chance to overtake. But I still assess the race positively: Audi has won the manufacturers’ championship and I still took third place in the drivers’ championship, although I’d obviously been hoping for more than that before the season. We’re returning in 2015 and then will be giving it our all to have number one back on the car again.”

“I’m happy about finishing the season with a podium result. I think I drove a good race, was running in front after the first lap and managed to pull clear of Pascal Wehrlein. But even without the safety car I wouldn’t have won the race because ‘Eki’ (Mattias Ekström) and ‘Rocky’ (Mike Rockenfeller) were faster on soft tires towards the end of the race. Due to the safety car I had to work a bit harder at the end to finish on the podium. It was a perfect day for me and for Audi.”

“A good race with a good performance and a season that has ended on a positive note for Audi. Unfortunately, I was caught behind Pascal Wehrlein and Miguel Molina too long at the beginning so that Jamie (Green) was able to drive away at the front. In the end, as a driver on standard tires, the safety car cost me another two positions.”

“I started from the pole position but made a braking mistake in turn two and lost ground. That was really a shame and I’m going to learn my lesson from that. Next year I’m going to come back stronger. Now I’m happy with my team about a good Hockenheim result and with Audi about winning the manufacturers’ championship.”

“Above anything else, Audi managed winning the manufacturers’ championship. We were able to make use of the good starting base we created in qualifying. It’s nice to see a team-mate – Jamie (Green) – on the podium. Unfortunately, my race wasn’t quite as good. I had problems with the clutch right from the beginning. In my first season, I’ve been able to gather a lot of experience that will help me next year. But now I’m going to start the winter break without any worries.”

“Congratulations to Audi on winning the manufacturers’ championship. For me personally, it didn’t go so well. At the start, the car moved by itself and, as a result, I received a drive-through penalty for jump starting. That ruined my race. But I didn’t give up and managed to advance a little. Then, shortly before the end of the race, I had a collision with Vitaly (Petrov). It’s a shame it had to end like this. But the most important part about it is that both of us are okay. Now the season’s over – it didn’t really go well for me, but I’m already looking forward to next year.”

“A difficult race because I had some problems with the clutch, and then I had a few contacts with rivals.”
Hans-Jürgen Abt (Directeur de l’équipe Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): “This was an outstanding race today. Our mission was to clinch the manufacturers’ championship for Audi. We accomplished that with a victory and we’re very happy that both of these aims have been achieved. It’s great to end the season like this. It provides a lot of strength for the coming year.”

A driver from each team was on the podium, you can’t do any better than that. Both of our cars were in contention at the front. Our pit stops were good.
